Milan Rastislav Štefánik (1880–1919) is one of the most important figures in Czechoslovak history. During his short but exceptionally fruitful life, he managed to combine a scientific career as an astronomer with diplomatic skills and military courage. The lecture will trace his journey from observing the stars in Paris through foreign missions to his key role in the creation of Czechoslovakia – as well as the dramatic circumstances of his untimely death.
We cordially invite you to an engaging lecture on his life and legacy.
The lecture will be given by Matúš Tomáška, who will describe Štefánik’s scientific and political career and his fundamental contribution to the creation of independent Czechoslovakia.
The lecture will be held at the Bata Villa at 5:00 p.m.
