In 2026, we will commemorate 150 years since the birth of Tomas Bata. The Zlín hockey players also paid tribute to the legacy of this successful entrepreneur and visionary during their first league match against Vsetín. Gabriela Končitíková, director of the Thomas Bata Foundation, kicked off the dignified sporting celebration by throwing the ceremonial puck, after which the players took to the ice in special retro jerseys with the historic Bata logo on their chests.
The jerseys feature many details, such as quotes from Tomas Bata on the shoulders, a special logo celebrating the Thomas Bata Foundation, and laces, which have returned to the Zlín jersey after nine long years. After the ceremonial match, some of the jerseys were put up for auction and may now become part of the collection of many fans and collectors. The jerseys are packaged in designer packaging, which also includes game socks and an original puck.
“The auction is being held, as usual, through the portal sportovniaukce.cz and will run until Thursday, 12 February, when it will close at 7:00 p.m. A total of 24 game jerseys are on offer, as well as one special new item. In addition to the existing items, this time you can also bid on your own jersey, which we will then provide with your name and preferred number (the number must be different from the other jerseys in this set) and will be included in this limited edition,” revealed representatives of the Zlín club, adding that the prices of the packages are also inspired by Bata. “The starting price for game-worn jerseys is CZK 2,999, worn jerseys (the player only wore it during warm-up) start at CZK 2,499, and unused jerseys can be bid on starting at CZK 1,999.”
