The upcoming derby between Zlín‘s Berani team and Vsetín, which will take place on Saturday, 31 January, at the Trinity Bank Luděk Čajka Arena, will have a special atmosphere. The Zlín club, together with its fans, will commemorate the 150th anniversary of the birth of the most important figure in the history of the city of Zlín – Tomas Bata. The players will take to the ice in a special retro set of jerseys, and fans can look forward to a rich accompanying program.
The legacy of Tomas Bata, who built the city of Zlín with his shoe company at the beginning of the last century and made it one of the largest industrial centres of what was then Czechoslovakia, remains strong in the city to this day. “The significant anniversary of the birth of this successful entrepreneur and visionary will now also be commemorated by the Zlín hockey players and their fans,“ the Berani team announced on their official website.
„Tomas Bata was a great lover of sports, especially team sports. He knew that sports teach you everything you need for a happy life and perfect business - that sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, that sometimes you need to change tactics, but above all, that it is important to learn to work together,” says Gabriela Končitíková, director of the Thomas Bata Foundation, which assisted the Zlín hockey players in creating a special yellow and white retro set of jerseys dominated by the historic Bata logo and featuring famous quotes from the company’s founder. Some of the jerseys in which the Berani team will play Saturday's game against Vsetín will then be auctioned off, with exactly 50 pieces being produced.
“The jersey contains a lot of details. For example, quotes from Tomas Bata on the shoulders, a special logo marking the celebrations organized by the Thomas Bata Foundation, and laces, which are returning to the Zlín jersey after nine long years. Apart from the historic Bata logo from 1928-1938, there are no other advertisements on the jersey, for which we would like to thank the City of Zlín, the BPA agency, and other club partners,” add representatives of the Zlín club.
A special TB150 collection has been created
A special limited-edition collection will also be available for fans. You can purchase one of the one hundred of anniversary scarves or a special numbered puck limited to 1-150. The last part of the limited-edition collection will be presented during Saturday’s game. These exclusive fan and collector’s items will be available for purchase starting Saturday at the hockey fan shop in the fan zone in front of the stadium. The entire game will be accompanied by a rich program full of competitions with a Bata theme.
