Tomas Bata considered financial literacy to be a basic prerequisite for a successful life. It fulfilled his idea of a free, and therefore happy, person. According to him, freedom comes with education and wealth.
Just as he himself had to learn to manage his finances and think economically, he taught all his employees to do the same. His fundamental idea about managing finances is: “It is not the amount of money a person earns each month that matters, but how they manage their money effectively.”
